The Valkyrie Project

In Late 2012 a tiny silver figurine was found in the mud using a metal detector in Harby, Denmark.  It was a unique find, the only 3D Viking representation of a Valkyrie.  Dated to about A.D. 800, it was found near a known metal workshop, and there was speculation it was discarded as waste or meant for the melting pot as a chunk of the lower section was missing.

Nathaniel has made a detailed scale reproduction of the original reconstructed to be whole.  These are available in limited numbers in sterling silver for $200.

Nathaniel Lowe

In the studio of his father – noted sculptor Maurice Lowe – Nathaniel learned firsthand many of the old-world techniques that he brings to his meticulous designs. Then, over twenty years of fine jewelry-making experience in the exacting New York City market enables Nathaniel to bring a rare attention to detail to his knives and silver adornments. For the last decade in his studio amidst the mountains and deserts of Taos, New Mexico – Nathaniel Lowe is realizing his lifelong fascination with historical weapons by handcrafting knives and accoutrements of his own design.

His personal projects become available on occasions of his own making, and he also brings his very capable skills to realize the compatible objects of desire for private clients. He is a deep resource in the history of edged weapons, Viking legend, and technology from Asian folded metallurgy to American Frontier primitive.  His three dimensional wax carving for silver casting is sublime, and his forge produces steel blades with superior performance and individual beauty.
